Laid-off bank worker now showcasing her baking skills at new coffeehouse
When the bank where she had worked for 13 years recently let Jalene Berger go as part of a downsizing, she took her retirement savings and poured into a longtime passion — baking. Berger and her husband, Douglas Berger, are showcasing some of her baked goods at their new Crossroads Coffeehouse, which has opened in the former space of The Coffee Girls at 310 Southwest Blvd.
