During 1970 and 1980, you would have been difficult to find a household that had a Mr. Coffee machine in it. Introduced to the market in 1972, Mr. Coffee drip coffee maker first designed specifically for home use. Joe DiMaggio, the former baseball star, was the first spokesperson for the brand.

Before the automatic drip coffee makers, people would perk their coffee on a stovetop percolator. Later models of electric machinery maker and could be put in. Mr. Coffee machine is an electrical engineer.

To get a tasty cup of coffee, had one just for filling the water tank, put the coffee in a coffee filter, place the filter in the basket and turn on the machine. Hot water dripping from the container on the coffee grounds into the basket, coffee as it trickled through the basics. At the end of their journey, the coffee dripped from the filter into a pot where it was ready to be served.

Immensely popular throughout the U.S. Mr. Coffee has become something of a cultural icon. Besides having Joe DiMaggio pitching mark, years later, the machine would be available in dozens of movies, songs, short stories and poetry.

One of the most famous references to Mr Coffee was in Back to the Future trilogy. In the movies, instead of Mr. Coffee, it was called Mr. Fusion. Ironically, it was the machine in the film is not an actual Mr. Coffee machine, but a modified Krups coffee maker.

In the movie Spaceballs, Mr. Coffee is prominent, and the DVD version also has another parody reference, called Mr. DVD. In the case of popular music, Mr. Coffee was mentioned in the Bloodhound Gang’s hit song The Bad Touch. The machine was also in Tom Hanks film, Apollo 13th

Vt. coffee company buys Calif. coffee brand
WATERBURY, VT. — Vermont’s Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has bought a California coffee company. Green Mountain says the deal for Diedrich Coffee Inc., of Irvine, Calif., is worth about $300 million.
