When we are determining the very best coffees in the world you should look at all the flavor elements of your gourmet coffee. Must of us start our mornings out with at least one cup of coffee. It starts our mornings with a refreshing smell and the energizing effects to start your day off. With your coffee you usually have sugar/creamer or both.

Coffee is a bean/seed that we brew into beverage with a bitter flavor, we get coffee beans from over 70 countries mostly around the equatorial Latin Americas, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Africa. Coffee has that pickme up affect due to the amount of caffeine content in the bean and coffee is one of the most consumed beverages in the world.

Where does Coffee come from?

Coffee comes from coffee berries, they undergo many steps before they are roasted and consumed by all of us. Traditionally they must be picked from the bushes by hand, which is a very labor intensive job. They are then sorted by ripeness and color and at this step is when the fruit part of the berry is removed. The coffee bean is then washed and dried then finally roasted.

There are many flavors of coffee when it comes to roasting but in general their are four categories of roasting coffee: light, medium, medium-dark, dark.

Decaffeination of Coffee

Decaffeination may also be part of the processing that coffee seeds undergo. Seeds are decaffeinated when they are still green. Many methods can remove caffeine from coffee, but all involve either soaking the green beans in hot water (often called the “Swiss water” process) or steaming them, then using a solvent to dissolve caffeine-containing oils. Decaffeination is often done by processing companies, and the extracted caffeine is usually sold to the pharmaceutical industry.
