because the bottle I use at work for drinking water is too hard to clean the inside, I filled up with hot coffee / tea water from the coffee machine to clean the interior and with SANI-DEX ALC antimicrobial alcohol gel hand wipes to clean the exterior. is this enough for the inside? I use a glass bottle of VOSS. I bought it just cuz i like the bottle and thought it would be nice to use for drinking water on jobbet.ättika. . . good idea. I will do a warm solution of water ättika.av how the water is too hot to hold for more than about 1st 5 seconds, I timed it.

I was thinking vinegar was a good cleaner for that purpose, but I don’t know how effective it is.
No, the water is not hot enough. It may kill some but won’t kill all the bacteria. To kill all the bacteria, you would have keep the water at a boil for several minutes.
Vinegar is used to clean the scale out of the coffee pot, not for sanitizing.
Your best option is to clean the bottle thoroughly in hot-soapy water using a bottle brush to clean the inside. Thereafter, pour the water from the bottle into a tumbler or mug for drinking.
To clean a glass bottle, use a bottle-brush, which you can get from any hardware shop, some boiling water and a little good detergent. Rinse well.
The coffee-machine water should be adequate from day to day.
Take it home at weekends and give it a specially good hot scrub, then fill it with Camden solution (from a wine-makers’ suppliers) and let it stand 24 hours. Rinse carefully.

In order to sterilize anything with hot water, the water temperature has to reach the boiling point which is 212 degrees F. and boil for 5 minutes. The water temperature on a coffee maker is never set to boil because a person could get scalded from it.
You can wash the inside of the bottle with dish detergent and water (dishwater) and rinse it with hot water and it will be as clean as a glass or cup.
Voss is just a Norwegian glass water bottle. The glass makes it easier to clean and there are no carcinogens that will get into it.
I don’t understand why you hang on to a used water bottle just because it has the name Voss on it. It’s no longer a status symbol of the rich and famous. Why not just use a water glass instead? They are much easier to clean.
No, the water from the coffee maker won’t sanitize it alone. Personally, I would put 1-2 tablespoons of bleach in the bottle, then fill it with the coffee maker water. Let sit for 2-3 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly. You should wash the outside with some dish soap though, or the bleach solution from the inside. You can buy a tiny bleach bottle anywhere that sells bleach, one that will fit in your desk.
