Is this really bad for my child? I think you are wasting money and costing my child’s health as well? and on the days I did not get a chai I have a Decaf frappucino with much less caffeine, but lots of sugar in it?

Yeah, i knid of think giving your baby caffine is not very good. Stop asap
Sugar and Caffeine….BIG no no’s….take care of your baby and your body….
you may risk getting gestational diabetes…i say cutback as much as you can stand and you should be fine…
My dr. said I could have caffeine just in moderation…Just because your pregnant does not mean you are dead!
I don’t know about the baby’s health, but I can tell you for a fact that you’re wasting your money.
why do you do that? you should stop.
Its not good for baby but I drink a lot of mt.dew. Try to cut back to a smaller size. If you’ve been doing this all along your body is probably mostly used to it. I wouldn’t take up the habit if you haven’t been doing it all along. Some studies suggest an increased risk of mc but your pretty much past that point and if thats the worst thing you do, well its better than drink, drugs, and smoking.
Before I was pregnant, I was a starbucks addict, it was kind of how my husband and I socialized. Now, I go maybe once every two weeks and get a tall green tea. There are no real studies to prove that caffeine is bad, but also none that prove caffeine is not bad. I wouldn’t risk the possible effects on your baby.
Well, if your baby’s not born a diabetic – he/she will certainly be a hand full once their born… Im 10 weeks, on my 2nd child and I stay clear of things like that – why risk it.
Please do not take this wrong…
Yes, I think you are wasting you money and causing un-needed risk to your baby. I would stick to the decaf! Maybe once a week get a tall latte if you HAVE to have one! The sugar is not going to be that bad, its the caffeine that your baby doesnt need.
I LOVE Dr. Pepper but I limit myself and try to find substitutes… like… I drink A LOT of cranberry juice! Healthy alternative!
Good Luck!
my doc told me that one serving of caffeine per day is ok and would not hurt the baby but preferably not to have any. plus starbucks is crucial expensive put that money into your babies piggy bank. Good luck
Well caffeine is bad it can cause jitters in the baby and to it can cause miscarriage if you consume alot of caffeine. Sugar will make the baby fat. I know I used to buy starbucks everyday and I was spending around 100.00 a month. Imagine how much you would be saving and put that toward buying your baby stuff.
My doctor told me I was able to have up to 350mg a day. So there ya have it. When people say you shouldn’t it is purely there opinion.
I’m 29 weeks pregnant and I drink a lot of big red.I know the dye is bad as well as all the sugar and stuff but I can’t stop because its a craving.I crave the red dye taste cuz it taste creamy to me.I don’t have diabetes or anything which I was actually surprised.I have cut back which is what you should do but I mean you say you have one a day so I think you are in the safe zone.I think as long as your taking your vitamins and stuff you and your baby will be fine.
I don’t think there’s any way I’d be drinking 100 mg of coffee a day at ANY stage of pregnancy. I would stop and find an alternative.
You are allowed to have 300 mg of caffeine per day, which is actually quite a lot. If you’re only having 100 mg a day, then you’re fine. Besides, if you’re 19 weeks, then you’re past the critical stage of major organ development. Just be careful to watch your sugars because you can get gestational diabetes, plus it just adds on the pounds. But I think you’re ok!
Well … during my first pregnancy, I had horrible morning sickness and got in the habit of drinking a venti chai every morning. It settled my stomach nicely.
At the time, I thought they were decaf. I have no idea where I got that idea.
Late in my pregnancy, when I was obviously, very much with child, I mentioned to my favorite barista that I was drinking them because they were decaf and her eyes just about popped out of her skull.
As it turned out, my son is 3 y.o. and healthy as can be.
While it certainly isn’t recommended, and you should probably cut way back, I can testify that it doesn’t always have dreadful consequences. If it’s the worst sin in your diet, I’m not even sure if it’s that bad.
As for wasting money? Well, we already know that $4 for coffee is crazy, but I like the temporary escape of vegging in a Starbucks. When I compare it to seeing a movie, getting a pedicure or buying a paperback, it actually starts to feel like a reasonable small indulgence.
I was preggers all winter so I HAD to have my coffee in the mornings .. I asked my GYN … she told me it was FINE … Evey pg is different , ever doc is different .. I ate rare roast beef sandwiches at least twice a week ( it was a craving ) , tuna fish , had coffee everyday , and a glass of wine once a month , I was fine … how ever ..One of my Friend’s went thu a 2 Lt bottle coke a day when pg and a different one was told NO roast beef .. not hot showers , no coffee, no tuna .. no wine .. we all had a diff doc … SO .. go with YOU .. what works for you .. be responsible .. practice good food safety ..
and yeah Starbucks is a waste of money … go get a Large chai tea at dunken donuts for like 3$ .. it’s super yummy .. very cheep that’s good later when you have to buy diapers and wipes Evey 2 1/2 weeks
Good luck to you and your baby peanut
Caffeine is a stimulant that crosses the placenta into your baby’s blood system. Excessive intakes of caffeine are associated with increased risk of miscarriage. Kaiser say’s no more than 2 cups a day. But me personally I wouldn’t drink any coffee. I wouldn’t even jeopardize my baby’s health.
200mg of caffine a day is fine so thats about 3 cans of coke or 2 coffeess other things also contain caffine such as chocolate…. keeps this in mind
