If you’re willing to travel far enough, I loved Cafe 976 in Pacific Beach. Coffee and snacks were slightly overrated, but you can’t beat the relaxed study-inducing garden atmosphere in what was once a single-family home. I got lots of studying done here; take it from me, UCSD graduate of 2002.

STARBUCKS… i dont think you can ever go wrong there
