Hey Everyone,

I own a gourmet coffee and specialty tea company.

Yesterday, I received a shipment of approximately 600 promotional pens that I don’t remember ordering. At any rate, I’m going to use them anyway.

My problem lies in the fact that this is my first attempt at advertising my company – my background is journalism, not business or marketing lol. .

Does anyone have any ideas for creative ways to hand these pens out to the neighbouring businesses that will make them want to come in and/or make a purchase?

Thanks in advance!

Hand one personally to every customer who buys something at your shop. Say “If you don’t need a pen, would you please leave this at the counter of the next business you enter”. You are making it like a game. You could even say “I’m having a contest to see which pen gets deposited the furthest away (in the same city)”.

Or say that the person holding the pen gets a free tea bag if they produce the pen. If you say this in person, they will be anxious to get their friend a free tea.

Wow what a come up! Promotional pens can be very advantageous to promote your business, if you do it right. I would not give them out individually, package them with in a gift basket of sort for the holidays with your gourmet coffee as added value. People want a lil extra for their buck :) I am the co-founder of http://www.saveafricaglobal.org and we also have a partner, coffee line that we use as a fundraiser. We would love to market our product in your store. Please advise.
