You shouldn’t drink caffiene when you are pregnant.

  • Melu_lula says:

It won’t harm your baby any more than it will harm you. But the caffiene will get to the baby, too, so keep that in mind. Just keep it in moderation.

  • Sid says:

    Only in excess amount.

  • > Elliot < says:

its not good to drink lots of caffeine the baby can get addicted to it if you drink to much and cause you to have a fussy baby when its born…some caffeine a day is ok but not that much…also when i have caffeine i cant stop peeing so thats normal

  • Reba K says:

Lots of orange juice can alter the sugar levels in your blood.

My pregnant friend said that a little coffee a day won’t hurt the baby but check with your doctor too.

  • xfallenxobeautyx says:

you don’t have to completely cut it out of your diet but the less the better

  • MT says:

They suggest caffine in moderation during your pregnancy. Around a cup a day I think.

It wasn’t anything I followed, honestly. I had a coffee in the morning and a soda or two in the afternoon. Baby is totally fine.

  • Boyz.Are.So.Confuzing!! ='( says:

no it won’t harm the baby… just don’t risk it and try to stay off the caffeine. And yes, urinating during pregnancy is completely normal.
    Hope this helped! :)

  • kimmers_19 says:

they say caffiene isnt good whatsoever.

  • mommy2J says:

It wont actually harm your baby like as in make it have problems but it can increase the chances of miscarriage so you should def. cut down on the caffeine.

  • Connerz1985@rogers says:

Yea, it shouldnt harm the baby, my sisters doctors always told them to have at least one cup of coffee a day when they were pregnant.

  • Tiffany says:

The baby presses on your bladder as it grows and your uterus with it causing you to pee more. I think 1 cup of coffee everyday or another form of caffeine and Junior turned out fine at 9 lbs 1 oz 20 inches long and healthy as can be.

  • Anonimis A says:

Yes, but not so much i think. Your baby can be really happy with you because i don’t think many mothers sacrifices it to only drink healthy ^^

  • Samuel says:

On the back of energy drinks it says caffeine not suitable for pregnant women. So I think it is bad.

  • Renee says:

you could not be drinking that much caffine in one day yes that is very bad and it could have long term effects on the baby talk to the dr and he will tell you more about the risks

  • mommy, and expecting. says:

    Ur not suppose to.
and yes it can harm ur baby.

the caffine rises its heart rate, which can cause a heart attack.

thats wut my doctor told me.

  • Ashley says:

i wouldnt be drinking that much caffeene exspecially coffee or capps… I would take about 2 8 oz cups max.. thats prolly even too much

  • Timid Women Rarely Make History says:

Too much can be. Cappuccino and specialty coffees more than likely would contain too much. You need to talk and discuss this with your doctor. He/she can get you a recommended safe amount of caffeine for you to have.

  • wilson says:

The March of Dimes recommends that women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant consume no more than 200 milligrams (mg) of caffeine per day (equal to about one 12-ounce cup of coffee a day). A new study has found that women who consume 200 mg of caffeine or more a day are twice as likely as women who consume no caffeine to have a miscarriage.

When I was pregnant, my OB told me that no harm is done unless you are consuming 4+ cups per day. Occasionally consuming more caffeine than usual isn’t going to do harm. There are no specific risks to the health of the baby other than what I posted above.

Urinating more frequently when pregnant is normal.

  • longliveabcdefg says:

Your baby feeds on whatever you eat, the caffeine in your body does go to your baby. Cappuccino is concentrated coffee, 3 cups is a lot. If you drink too much, your baby could be addicted like adults do. It’s normal to want to pee a lot as the kidneys get pressure from your enlarged uterus.

  • Alli says:

Does lots of caffeine hurt you? Yes. Why would it be any different for your unborn child?

Also, caffeine is a diuretic which would explain your frequent pissing.

Here’s a tip, though. Stop breeding.

  • ~Jessika~ says:

I drank coca-cola every day with my oldest and she is fine. Also with all of my kids I had a craving for coffee of all things. They don’t reccomend caffiene in excess and I wouldn’t condone it either. Just try to drink water and juice as often as possible. Honestly, I drink Mt. Dew every day but I have drastically cut down on the amount I drink.
Sometimes you just need some energy.

Your baby will be fine. =)

    Congrats!

  • Kathryn says:

you shouldn’t drink anything with caffeine in it its not good for your baby. as the baby grows its going to put more presser on your bladder so yeah its normal

  • Peanut's mommy (Due Sept 14) says:

Switch to decaff, studies have shown that caffeine every day can cause miscarriage.
    This is what I found::
Caffeine is a stimulant and a diuretic. Because caffeine is a stimulant, it increases your blood pressure and heart rate, both of which are not recommended during pregnancy. Caffeine also increases the frequency of urination. This causes reduction in your body fluid levels and can lead to dehydration.

Caffeine crosses the placenta to your baby. Although you may be able to handle the amounts of caffeine you feed your body, your baby cannot. Your baby’s metabolism is still maturing and cannot fully metabolize the caffeine. Any amount of caffeine can also cause changes in your baby’s sleep pattern or normal movement pattern in the later stages of pregnancy. Remember, caffeine is a stimulant and can keep both you and your baby awake.
    Statement: Caffeine causes miscarriages.

Facts: A few studies have shown that there may be an increase in miscarriages among women who consume more than 300 mg (three 5 oz. cups of coffee) a day. Other outcomes include preterm labor and low-birth weight babies. Again, it is safer to avoid caffeine as much as possible.

Statement: A pregnant woman should not consume ANY caffeine.

Facts: Experts have stated that moderate levels of caffeine have not been found to have a negative effect on pregnancy. The definition of moderate varies anywhere from 150 mg – 300 mg a day.

    I avoid caffeine all together.

  • Daughter of the most high GOD! says:

Caffeine is absolutely fine as long as you do it in moderation. Typically you are allowed 200-300 mg of caffeine a day. If you are drinking more than this, just cut it down a bit. I drink coffee as well, because there are some days i just need that caffeine boast. What i do to combat the diuretic effects of the caffeine is to drink lots and lots of water. I drink like close to 1 gallon of water a day.

Urinating a lot is common during pregnancy and it will most likely get worse as your baby grows. Keep in mind you uterus is resting on your bladder, and with this pressure you will certainly have the need to go more frequently.

    Congrats!

  • alexis says:

excessive amounts of caffiene while you are pregnant is never ok.. it can cause behavioral and developmental problems in your baby. you should stay away from it entirely.. and you need to drink more water!

  • Neni's Baby #1 on the way!!! says:

I read some article in the internet that said drinking coffee but to extreme amounts will not harm the baby AT ALL, some people will tell you the opposite because they believe the opposite which is ok! I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion, but facts are facts and it remains that as long as your not taking too much of it, you guys should be ok!
    have a nice day!

  • Luv4Nevaeh says:

Acording to every new pregnancy book, drinking coffee in moderation is perfectly ok. Pre-natal vitamins and simply just being pregnant have been known to cause constipation so its nice to have a little help from the old cup of coffee every now and then ;)

  • Kursten says:

The suggested amount of caffiene intake is no more than 300 mgs a day. Anymore than that has been shown to cause nero-natal problems such as spine abifida. So watch how much you drink. Plus to much vitamin C can also be bad for the baby. Watch how much you drink and eat, your prenatals have a lot in it too. Hope this helps

  • Heather says:

I refused to give up my coke when I was pregnant and the baby came out fine. However just don’t over do it. Too much of anything can cause problems, but a little here and there shouldn’t hurt. Yes going to the bathroom alot is normal. It might get worse the further along you are b/c of all the weight pushing on your bladder.

  • ~*Army wife with #1 on the way*~ says:

OMG this controversy about people saying you cannot drink caffeine during pregnancy. You can drink up to 150mg of caffeine and still be safe. Most doctors say that 1-2 cups a day is safe during a pregnancy. The urination thing, if it comes with pains in the stomach it may be a urinary infection which can come on from not drinking enough water.

  • sunshinyorange says:

Coffee in moderation is fine while you’re pregnant. The “experts” say to keep it at two cups (or less) per day. Just be careful of caffeine in hidden things (soda, chocolate, etc.)

And don’t listen to all the people trying to scare the sh*t out of you by telling you that having any caffeine will cause you to miscarry; having one glass of wine will make your baby be born with FAS and will turn you into an alcoholic, etc. These women haven’t done enough research. Incidentally, they’re also the ones who have babies born with problems (club feet, low birth weight, etc.) I’m being perfectly serious. EVERY SINGLE WOMAN I know who has gone completely “text book” during her pregnancy has delivered a baby with a problem. Most of them are mild, but they ARE still problems. On the other hand, all the women I know who have had a more laid back approach during their pregnancies (had (gasp!) two cans of tuna per week instead of one, had the occasional glass of wine, smoked the occasional cigarette (although I don’t personally agree with this, I do know women who have done this); rode carnival rides during the first trimester, etc., have all had healthy, normal babies.

Obviously there are certain things that you’d just be ignorant to put in your mouth (illegal drugs, hard liquor, etc.) but as for most other things–moderation is the key.
