As a trash to treasure hunter I am always looking for a business usually comes from some other junk that I can turn into a treasure, and my most recent search, a coffee table. I am currently looking for something functional, fashionable but cost effective. Where I live there are several malls and thrift stores consignment of which I’ve found some good bargains. Through my search for a new coffee table, or rather knew me, I have been surprised by the different things that can be used as a coffee table. Currently I live in a cottage-style home, but I have dark brown leather sofas in my living room and it was a practical choice because I have two small boys. The sofas are easy to wipe off when they have accidents. Currently in the living room, we have an oversized square leather top table that has been very functional. But since all my furniture is dark leather and style I’m searching for more cottage, I would like to find something a bit lighter and less bulky. I need something that can add some extra punch of color in the room but it must be practical with two small children. We also want our coffee table to be used for eating while watching television in addition to used to prop our feet up and relax. During my search for a new coffee table, I have been surprised by some of the great ideas used for furniture. At one of the stores, I saw where someone had taken a couple of square foot stools and put them in a beautiful fabric. They had them pushed together in front of a sofa and was used as a coffee table. They had placed a TV tray on top of the stools are used to place the food or drink on them or to prop up your feet. This idea is a creative way to allow for more seating, too. Another idea would be to use an old coffin as a coffee table. This allows for storage in the chest and a surface that can be used to provide food and drink or to support those feet. Old chests often times can be found at yard sales, thrift shops and antique malls. But many times you can find a chest that is worn or old and need some extra care for a good price and that I’m older actually adds charm. But furniture stores also sell new boxes used as coffee tables. Plant stands and pots can serve as good support for a piece of wood, an old door, piece of glass or a window that can be used to create a coffee table as a conversation piece for guests. The pots can be used up to the right or turned upside down. If used right you can put many different things in them some added flare. When looking for a coffee table or any type of furniture do not rush. Take your time, shop around, see what is available and gather ideas. There are many good choices, which is not new and offers great deals. If you see something in a furniture store, you can often times re-create the same look from a thrift store or classified ad with a little creativity.
