1924 was an exciting year in Ypsilanti, with the elegant new downtown Huron Hotel having opened the year before (now the Centennial Center at Pearl and Washington streets). Built in eight months with $200,000 in local money raised from a sale of stock certificates, the hotel was the jewel of downtown.
