A mocha is basically a latte with chocolate in it

  • braingamer says:

Mocha is chocolate flavoured, while Latte means it contains warm/hot milk.

  • mrfroo says:

A latte is simply steamed milk and shots of espresso, the amount depending on the size of the drink you order. Latte is typically the base drink for other drinks, like the mocha.

A mocha is a latte with chocolate added, and it has a lovely coffee and chocolate flavour, if made right.

a latte is espresso with enough steamed milk to triple the volume of liquid topped with steamed milk foam

a mocha is just like a latte but an ounce of cocoa powder is steamed in the milk (some places use chocolate syrup but that is a little lame) it is then topped with either whipped cream or steamed milk foam

If you order a flat white it is made with water and milk.
A cappuccino only has a little water and the rest is hot milk, with frothy/foamy top.
A Latte is simply a cappuccino without the foam. It should be made milk and look almost like a flat white.
A Mocha is a coffee and chocolate combination. They are usually made the same/similar to cappuccinos. They don’t have quite as strong a taste as coffee, but they are very yummy.

What is the difference beween a mocha and a latte? Great question. I’ll also tell you about the many other types of coffee while I’m at it!

This is usually printed in really tiny print on the menu board, and explained in a mysterious pamphlet, but the gist of it is this: A latte is an espresso shot or two (depending on size), steamed milk, and a bit of foamed milk on top. A cappuccino is the same, but with a lot of foam. (Starbucks standards decree half milk, half foam; I usually make it slightly ‘wetter,’ because people get annoyed when the cup feels too light.) A mocha is a latte with chocolate. A caramel macchiato is essentially a vanilla latte with the shots dropped in after the milk (instead of before it like the other drinks) and caramel sauce drizzled on top. An espresso macchiato is espresso in foam, and just foam. No milk. A caffe Americano is espresso mixed with hot water to dilute it to about the strength of regular coffee. And a shot of espresso is a little under an ounce. If this is all confusing, don’t worry about it — just ask the helpful person behind the register, and he or she will explain.

All these answers are correct in that a mocha has chocolate. But the technical difference is the foam part of it. One has more foam (latte i think….it’s been a long time since I made them), which is made by moving up the milk in the steamer longer and faster than in a mocha.
