TEA HAS MORE CAFFEINE. Coffee contains less caffeine than tea when measured in its dry form. Cup of coffee measured against a normal glass of tea that most people consume at one time.
They both have health benefits. As well as downfalls.
Coffee comes from a coffee bean:

erm dont you drink it for taste rather than for its benefit? derrr

  • Murzy says:

they come from totally different plants and have different qualities

  • Melissa says:

Coffee is made from coffee beans and tea is made from tea leaves.

Tea has many different benefits for you healthwise while coffee does not. IT really depends on what kind of tea you drink. For example, green and white tea are high in antioxidants. Black tea is good for cholesterol/heart health (and also has the most caffeine of the teas while white has the least). Oolong is a good fat burner.

http://www.teavana.com has delicious teas and also is very informational abotu the benefits of each tea. Just click on oolong or green or whatnot and it’ll tell you all about it!

Tea is actually good for you. Coffee is not.

While coffee and tea are both sources of caffeine, the amounts of caffeine in any single serving of these beverages varies significantly. An average serving of coffee contains the most caffeine, yet the same serving size of tea provides only 1/2 to 1/3 as much.(Ref.: Caffeine by The Institute of Food Technologists’ Expert Panel on Food Safety & Nutrition.) One of the more confusing aspects of caffeine content is the fact that coffee contains less caffeine than tea when measured in its dry form. The caffeine content of a prepared cup of coffee is significantly higher than the caffeine content of a prepared cup of tea.

Coffee. Caffeinated and decaf coffee each contain antioxidants and other substances that may help regulate blood sugar; that might explain the apparently reduced diabetes risk. Certain compounds in coffee also appear to help prevent bile from crystallizing into gallstones. And caffeine may cut the risk of Parkinson’s by boosting supplies of the brain chemical dopamine, at least in men.

Tea. Habitual tea drinkers’ reduced cancer risk might stem from tea’s high antioxidant capacity. Tea might protect the heart by relaxing blood vessels, inhibiting clots, and reducing cholesterol levels. And researchers speculate that the fluoride and estrogen-like substances in tea may bolster bone density.

People tend to believe Tea can be more medicinal.

Look in your grocery store, you’ll find dozens of teas, each claiming to “calm, sooth, energize, stimulate, vitalize, etc.” With coffee, they all just claim, “Hey! its coffee!”

Tea can be in bag form, mixed with different herbs or types of tea. Again, coffee is just ground beans maybe some flavoring added and thats about it.

  • KSJ says:

“Though tea has caffeine, it is good for heart”, say doctors.

  • Violation Challenged says:

The difference is that coffee is from a plants fruit and tea is from a plants leaves.
The next difference is taste. I prefer coffee, but others prefer tea.
both can be drank as a hot liquid or a cold liquid. However, coffee is more enjoyable at the temperature between hot and cold. And tea needs to be hot OR cold…no real flavor feast with tea when luke warm.

Coffee comes from the coffee bean, and tea is made from the leaves of various tea plants and/or herbs. Bergamot (this is commonly known as bee balm) is an herb with an orange flavor that is one of the main ingredients in Earl Gray tea. This herb is very high in vitamin C as well.

Other herbal teas are commonly made from chamomile and even catnip. Both of these herbs have a mild sedative effect and are often commercially marketed as “evening”, “bedtime” or even “sleepy-time” teas.

Green tea is gaining in popularity because current research indicates that it contains certain antioxidants and detoxifiers. There is also a wonderful tea on the market called Essiac Tea (made in Canada). This tea is rather expensive, but is a natural detoxifier. My uncle was drinking this brand religiously while he was undergoing chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer. It worked wonders to ease the nausea and help flush the toxic chemo out of his system between treatments.

Many herbs are considered homeopathic or alternative treatments for common colds, flu symptoms, insomnia and sedatives. If someone in my family gets sick, I often make an herbal tea to help alleviate the symptoms. Here’s a short list of some of my favorite tea herbs that can be used for tea and their benefits:

Sage is a natural expectorant (helps with coughs, sore throats and congestion).

Peppermint also helps with cold symptoms and helps ease nausea and stomach issues.

Catnip has a mild sedative effect and is also helpful in the treatment of colds or flu

Lemon balm helps with cold symptoms and stomach upset

Horehound is great at helping with a sore throat. It was a main ingredient in many commercial brands of cough drops, and is still used in some (as well as some candy recipes).

Chamomile is great as a sleep aid and also in helping ease colds, coughs and flu. It is often a main ingredient in homeopathic treatments for colicky babies, so it is one of the safest and gentlest herbs available.

If you add raw (unpastuerized) honey to your tea as a sweetener, this also helps with a sore throat. And other evidence indicates that this raw honey has additional benefits for people with seasonal allergies. I have kept bees and work with many beekeepers that swear by taking 1-2 teaspoons of raw honey each day. This only works with honey that is local to where you live though (within a 50 mile radius). And store-bought honey doesn’t work, as it is already pastuerized and all of the beneficial bacteria has been “cooked” out of it.

And there is also evidence that caffeine does have some health benefits as well, as long as it’s not consumed in excess. Improved mental alertness is one of the primary benefits. But if you are trying to avoid caffeine, there are decaffeinated coffees and teas on the market as well.

If you are using an herbal tea, make sure that you DO NOT boil your water – heat it to just below a boil and steep your herbal tea. Higher temps will cause the natural oils of the plants (and the beneficial properties as well) to evaporate.

    Hope this answers your question!

Actually an 8 oz cup of coffee has a significant amount (60-120mg) of caffeine over tea (15-45mg), although espresso can have as little as 45mg (but that’s in only 2 oz),

Both have multiple benefits, but coffee’s have been proven. Coffee helps lower the chances of diabetes, Parkinson’s, and colon cancer.

Tea is believed (and some data suggests it’s true) to reduce arthritis inflammation, heart attack risks, and colon cancer. It may also improve bone mineral density in older women.

Studies have shown that the smell of roasted coffee beans can reduce stress. Think how easy it would be to keep some beans in your car for rush hour emergencies.

Coffee is made from the Arabica bean (good) or Robusta (bitter & 2x the caffeine). Flavors vary like grapes according to their local environment & weather conditions.

Tea is made from either the Camellia assamica or Camellia sinensis plants (also varies in flavor by region). Black, white, and green teas are all from the same plants just with varying amounts of processing.
