KIND infers type or origin, as in Costa RIca, Colombian, Ethiopian…
RObust is an origin or kind of bean that is grown specific to a region.
Some companies mix or blend different types of beans to get a certain flavor or taste.
Most companies however don’t provide that information, claiming ‘secret blends’ when what they mean is they don’t want people knowing how much junk coffee goes into their cans…
I Manage a Seattle’s Best Cafe’ and Robusta is NOT a kind of bean. It is a grade of bean, the highest grade available. All Starbucks and Seattle’s Best coffees are from the same purveyor, as Starbucks owns Seattle’s Best. And they all are from Robusta beans. That is why the bags cost an arm and half a leg!
Generally Robusta is used in cheaper coffees because Robusta is cheaper than Aribica but you can get good Robusta as well. Robusta has a slightly more bitter taste so some poeple don”t like it but some prefer it. Robusta is used very often in instant coffee
