My father, who never drank coffee, made a pot of my mother while I was preparing a Mother’s Day breakfast. Thanking us profusely, she took a generous drink from the cup. . . and her hair straightened and her ears and eyes. Finally able to speak, she gasp out a word (shake the cup at me) “Water!” Nice, I asked my father, “Ah, how many balls have you put in the pot?” His answer. . . “Ten! And one for the pot!” It could have been alone!

Yes I have, but I love my coffee when it stands alone, or holds up the spoon…I am an odd duck I suppose, but I love a sweet, dark brew, that knocks me off my feet. Sweet story by the way. I enjoyed it, and now crave coffee.

    The coffee is thick
    The taste it is strong
    I’m on my twelfth pot:
I’ve been up way too long

    Nevertheless
    Caffeine levels are low
    To the other machine

Yes my husband did that to me the first time he made the coffee, he put like 9 scoops in a 6 pot cup and brewed it on strong, that was a real wake up call!! It is a very cute story and I also want some coffee now.

Have you ever had Cuban coffee? Strong but sweet with cream and sugar. Consumed many times a day according to Ricardo, who owned a cigar store. Wonderful taste, perhaps if your Dad had known, just some sugar and cream to make it right. Or perhaps he knew but forgot it was Mothers Day not April Fool’s day. Nice story.

My sister’s used to look like crude oil when she poured! But MAN! That stuff kept you going for a good long while!
My worst coffee moment was sipping it from a straw directly from Mc Donald’s drive-thru! Had blisters for a week!! Did I sue?? No, I learned to NEVER EVER drink coffee through a straw! Duh….I could be rich right now!

When I was very young, my parents would go fishing on Friday and return Sunday night. They camped on the lake and had a coffee pot the would hold about a gallon when full. One weekend my uncle, who did not drink coffee, stayed on shore while the folks ran the lines. He made coffee. He put a full 1 pound can of coffee in the pot, filled it with water and put it on the campfire to brew. When the folks got back, they said they could smell coffee a half mile away, and wound up pouring the coffe in a #3 washtub full of fresh water, and giving coffee to any and all who wandered by. As for myself, my coffee moment came in 1967 at a truck stop in Tuscon AZ. I sat in the coffee shop from 10 pm to 6 am flirting with the waitress. I bought a cup of coffee, and refills were free. After several refills, she started marking them to keep count, and according to her record keeping, I had 84 cups throughout the night. I took her home that morning, and went straight to the base hospital where they kept me 2 days with acute caffeine poisoning. I now drink 2 or 3 cups of coffee per year.
