www. curiousturtle. com A tutorial from curiousturtle. com shows how you can get great track data from Imagineer Systems Mocha with Adobe After Effects. Part two of two.
You can roto and open your project in a later version of MochaAE or the “big boy” Mocha. But there’s no direct way to get your roto data out of MochaAE V1.2.
Are you talking about the bit at about 4:45? The Transform data was pasted onto the original layer and only the Anchor Point keyframes were kept. If you then reset the other transform properties, then it stabilises the footage up in the centre of the frame.
You got me! ) It’s not 100% there. So without doing a quick Adjust Track it wouldn’t be ready for broadcast, but it’s good enough for a tutorial.
Stabilize uses the tracking data to focus the image around the chosen area. Great for rotoscoping.
If you want to find out more then check out our other clips on YouTube or visit Curious Turtle and look at Rock Steady : Successful Motion Tracking in Mocha & After Effects.
actually, i gotta say that @ 00:57 when u hit “stabilize” [which im not sure what it really does]- it doesnt seem like the MOCHA label gets skewed upwards, and that its not tracked quite right. am i wrong, o0curiousturtle0o ?
Fantastic. Mocha is pretty much the holy grail of planar tracking, and you made it very clear how one can accomplish a nice track, using footage that traditionally would be very difficult to track and rotoscope. Nice work.
Glad you liked the tutorial. There’s a full video training course coming mid-April 2009. Check out the Curious Turtle website or send an email for more detalis.
@drpenmaster No. You need to take the tracking data into another program and composite the pictures there.
@o0curiousturtle0o i dont get it, can i render my project from mocha with a picture in it??????
Terrific tutorials. They helped me out quite a bit.
Thanks.
Basically. Yes.

But does this mean that there is no way to rotoscope in mocha V1.2.2?
Yes it does, thanks.
If you’re using the MochaAE version you won’t have a render panel. That’s only on the full version of Mocha.
To get shape data into After Effects you need at least MochaAE V2 and the mochaShape plug-in.
Does that help?
All the best.
on mine there is no render panel!!!! help!!
Hahahaha thats the best! nice tutorial..
Actually, no you don’t. If you’ve ever used the software then you would know that copying and pasting directly from Mocha is all you need to do.
Thanks for your comment though. I hope your skills improve.
I also hope your keyboard gets fixed soon. It appears your caps lock key is broken.
WORST TUTORIAL EVER SEEN DOESNT EXPLAIN BETTER ………………………WE HAVE TO ADD CORNER PIN its in DISORT EFFECT then we can PAST DATA FROM MOCHA

Pretty sweet,
Where did you paste the Transform data? and what did you exactly do to center the package on both layers?? I did not get those parts in this tutorial
You got me!

K I’ll try that, and thanks for fast response.
Don’t import the file, just Select All, copy and paste from it. The keyframes will go in automatically.
Rock Steady is now available at the Curious Turtle site with loads of cool tutorials and techniques for Mocha and After Effects.
When I go to open my .txt files in After Effects, it says its an unsupported file.
