McCain has followed the bush plan of giving the middle class almost enough of a tax cut to afford a small cup of coffee in the morning, and giving the wealthy enough in tax cuts to buy another luxury SUV.
Obama’s plan is pretty liberal, giving most of the breaks to the lower and middle class, and then increasing the tax on the upper class citizens.

Which do you prefer and why?

  • Doug P says:

mccain tax breaks for everyone compares to tax hikes for everyone
    what do you prefer

  • Are You Dry Shaving Me? says:

A middle class family making $50,000/year will still pay $2,500 more under Obama’s middle class tax cuts compared to Bush tax cuts.

Everyone’s taxes will go up under Obama, just the most for the wealthy.

  • ghouly05 says:

Here is another that breaks it down in plain English. For the record, give me Obama’s plan. I am not rich to start with so need the breaks given to lower income people by his plan.

  • idget_500 says:

McCain. When you tax the rich you stop growth.

  • Bullmastiff Mommy says:

Well when someone who is rich pays FAR more in taxes than someone in the middle class of course their tax cut is going to mean more $$$.

    It’s simple math.

    How hard is it?

I prefer Bush taxes. I have half the tax liability under Bush that I did under Clinton.

    McCain IS THE BEST

    Obama WILL HAVE A breakdown

  • Vote Barr says:

only wealthy and greed can make me vote mccain…vote Barr for a true conservative vote

I prefer Obama’s plan. I’m tired of seeing the rich people get tax breaks when they don’t need it. I know they like it, but they can afford to pay more in taxes than lower/middle class people can. Also, giving tax breaks to upper class people isn’t going to stimulate the economy at all. There are far more lower/middle class people who could actually use the tax breaks and put it back into the economy. Give the upper class a tax break and I’ll bet that money sits in a bank account for the next 20 years.

Also, it appears to me that McCain is going to just follow along with the same sort of thing Bush has been doing. Look at our country. Bush has been terrible to it and the last thing I want is another 4-8 years of this crap.

  • D33 says:

Obama, his just makes more scenes to me.
    More money, higher taxes.
    Less money, lower taxes.

  • OBAMA THE RACIST says:

It really doesn’t matter what we think. ALL leading economists say that Obama’s plan is a disaster! History says so also (Jimmy Carter).

  • John W says:

    O yeah really non-biased

What Obama wants to do looks good on paper but it isn’t because its income retribution, straight from the blueprints of COMMUNISM.

  • Don't Tazer Me ! says:

You forgot to add that Obama is raising capital gains tax, social security taxes, and gas tax. Raising these other taxes in his plan will raise taxes of anyone who makes 32k a year or more, he purposefully leaves that out of his speeches. Raising the rich tax will only make hundreds of thousands of people LOSE THEIR JOBS! Most rich people are buying HYBRIDS! They can afford it, Obama wants us all to buy HYBRIDS when they cost 25-30k ! His plans SUCK!

  • TERESA V says:

Obama increasing taxes on corporations and rich translates to those increases being passed on to the consumer. What do you prefer? One way or another everyone pays more.

  • kerfitz says:

From the CNNmoney link from above
“In addition to making the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent, McCain says he would double the exemption for dependents, lower the corporate tax rate, make expensing rules more generous for small businesses and lessen the bite of the estate tax and Alternative Minimum tax.”

This one statement significantly changes the outcome of McCain’s plan. Making it much better for low income and middle class families.

Please understand the ENTIRE plan without just looking at the liberal talking points.

  • Last Ranger says:

McCain’s tax plan is for all of America.
I know you want to punish the ‘rich’. But, you better think this through. If you make more than $31K per year YOU are the ‘rich’.
I still prefer a small cup of coffee to no coffee at all.

  • Apu Nahasapeemapetilon says:

    McCain’s! Obama’s is to Socialist!

  • Badash says:

I know I’m going to get a hundred thumbs down for this but whatever…

Personally I think we should do away with the tax cuts that have already been put in place. Keep in mind that I too will be paying higher taxes, but if we don’t get this deficit paid off our economy will continue on its downhill spiral. Bush’s idea of cutting taxes then spending more money has really hurt us.

  • Noah H says:

The GOP is still wedded to the idea that ‘trickle down’ economics has validity. It doesn’t. Obama is on the right track on this one. ‘Trickle up’ economics will put more money in the hands of people that will actually spend it, and that spent money will show up on the balance sheets of investors. The American wage-earner will have a few more bucks to cope with rising prices and the investor class (the wealthy) will reap the benefits of greater spending. Win-win! No kiddin’!

  • VoiceOfReason says:

How about some real dollar numbers…?

The middle class will no longer exist if Obama takes the presidency…

  • GambitGrrl says:

I take a lot of what they say on the campaign trail with a huge grain of salt.

They are trying to get elected so many candidates promise things that just aren’t feasible; Or indeed possible since whom ever becomes President can only suggest policies. The congress is who really takes care of making them reality.

That being said, there is so much more to look at and consider when talking about the economy besides taxes.

Barak Obama is an economic moron.

He wants to make tax cuts to the tune of $80 Billion, and yet still wants to introduce more social programs and no mention of cutting government spending.

I thought we had a national debt in the trillions!? How the heck can we take care of that if we start cutting taxes that much?

And some of taxes he has proposed raising will affect the middle class. He wants to raise the Capital gains tax, so anyone investing in the stock market, including those of us with a 401k, will be hit with more taxes on our gains.

McCain’s wants to attempt to balance the budget. Even though his plan isn’t completely formed, and there are may kinks; such as extending the Bush Tax cuts with out cutting spending won’t get the job done.

I still trust his judgment more. His economic policies and ideas evolve and change with the gathering of more information.

His ultimate goal is to cut government spending and reduce the size of government. I’m all for that!

I have to go with McCain on this issue.

  • 1Pilot says:

That is far from the truth or un-biased

  • garrettsambo says:

I think Obama’s is better, because I know Obama will be a great president!
