I would paint the walls merlot (like the wine) add a soft throw and some cushions in the same colour and i would look bold. Add some large white candles to the coffee table would be nice as well.

a classic color to go with black is of course, white. add a few white elements to the room; maybe a couple of pillows for the couches and possibly some candles. then to give the room an extra punch, find a few accessories in a bright color, whatever you like (personally i would choose red). adding some plants can help a room look nice too. bamboo is a good choice because its cheap, very low maintenance, and it looks cool! check out thrift shops or secondhand stores since your on a budget. walmart is also a good place to pick up accessories for cheap. goodluck!

try second hand shops for some accessories eg lamp, etc. get some shelving and paint it something bright and get some old books/magazines etc and other things to put in them. try the markets.

you can also get some old curtains – dye them to match the paint if you like… or something complimentary.

spend wisely to get the most you can for your budget :D

Hi there. Try rearranging your furniture where th couches are focused on the focal point which is the TV cabinet. Buy sofa pillows that coordinate with the draperies. If the draperies are a print. pull out a color for solid pillows and vice versa. Candles and holders are great for any room. They can tie the room together. Take a picture of the room and take it with you shopping. There are many people that work in places like Pier One, Tuesday Morning, Burlington Coat Factory that will gladly help. Have a great week. Remnant rugs are cheaper. Have fun.

For the newest look, I would add some white and black print throw pillows, toiles are always in style and very classic, a throw, and even take some black and white photos of building in your area that have some architectural interest and put them in simple black frames with white matting. I’d paint the room a blue or red; two colors that work well with the black and white theme. I’d find some white and black accessories to spread around the apartment; go to a thrift store and find interesting shapes…use the rule of odds which means group your accessories in groups of three or five.
The other rule is 60-30-10….60% of the room is your main color, 30% is your secondary color and 10% is your accent color. In this case you would use your black as the main color, the white as your secondary color and the blue or red (or whatever color you choose) as your accent color.
What color is your flooring? Consider this in the equasion as well.
One thing that is always gorgeous is a simple black or white plate or bowl with red and/or green apples in it.
I’d also do some type of ‘flower’ arrangement. Get white pearl garland and put it in the bottom of a clear vase and then find black and white stems to arrange in it. Make sure its a tall vase and even taller stems. When I’m talking stems I’m talking stems of round berries, swirly twigs (you can buy them and spray paint black or white), etc. It would look gorgeous on your mirrored coffee table.
Hope this helps…try to keep it simple and not clutter it up for a real WOW affect. Good luck.
